We are currently looking for a Head of ADME/DMPK - Mechelen, BE



Scope of the role

You will lead and manage the DMPK department and ensure that support the small molecule and antibody drug discovery projects with ADME/PK data all the way to human PK predictions. You will also contribute to the transition of new drug candidates from discovery to development and throughout development to MAA/NDA. You are responsible for the design of the scientific and organizational strategy, focused on DMPK/ADME, to develop novel competitive therapeutic drugs. You will lead the implementation of this strategy within your own team. As a leader of the ADME/DMPK Team, you will ensure teamwork with a special emphasis on high quality of data delivered in the best timelines. The communication between the DMPK/ADME department and other Discovery and Development teams should be handled with professionalism.


Your role

  • Design the scientific strategy for the DMPK/ADME department,
  • Implement this strategy in the small molecule and antibody research projects
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to progress Galapagos extended drug discovery portfolio
  • Act as a DMPK/ADME expert and mentor
  • Be accountable for scientific strategy, budget and resources
  • Bring new approaches and technologies to provide state of the art support to Galapagos portfolio
  • Lead, manage and coordinate scientific teams appointed to its department, by motivating and empowering the team members
  • In addition to your role in coordinating the team, you will also take on the management of 2-3 projects individually.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • PhD in life sciences with proven track record in ADME/DMPK for at least 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry supporting drug discovery and development projects.
  • Experienced manager
  • In-depth expertise in ADME/DMPK and PK/PD relationships
  • Experience with drug delivery and disposal through various routes of administration
  • Experience with modalities other than small molecules would be welcome, especially in the field of antibodies
  • Knowledge with essential software and able to establish human PK predictions
  • In depth knowledge in PBPK and PK/PD analysis and simulation
