We are looking for a Medical Program Leader, Solid Tumors - Basel (CH), Mechelen (BE) or Leiden (NL)


Scope of the job


Galapagos is seeking a highly motivated Medical Program Leader to join our Clinical Development Team in solid tumors. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of building clinical expertise, building a robust network and fostering the development of high-quality medical products. We have an inspiring internal discovery programme combined with an active business development capability.

Together with our ambitious team, you will be the face of Galapagos to the external oncology community. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), providing scientific and medical expertise to internal and external stakeholders, driving the development and execution of clinical plans of our oncology assets to improve patient outcomes.


Your role


  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute comprehensive medical strategies.
  • Driving clinical programs from pre-clinical to FIH and beyond will be essential
  • Provide medical and scientific expertise to guide the development of solid tumor oncology programs, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements
  • Drive the design and implementation of clinical trials, including protocol development, site selection, and patient recruitment strategies
  • Analyze clinical trial data and provide insights to support decision-making and program advancement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with KOL's, investigators, and external partners within the oncology field
  • Stay current with scientific and medical advancements in the oncology field to drive innovation and excellence
  • Play a key role in partnering with the due diligence and clinical teams to identify assets that will complement the Galapagos pipeline


Job requirements

Who are you ?

  • MD, Board Certified Oncologist is highly preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in drug discovery, translational research, and/or clinical development
  • Inspirational leader with an exceptional drive to make it happen
  • Externally recognized as a leader in the field of drug discovery/development
  • A strong track record of delivering small molecule and antibody programs from discovery through development
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial design, execution, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven and can-do mindset, without compromising quality
