For one of our Oncology Discovery teams, we are now looking for an Associate Scientisto join our team in Mechelen (Belgium). This will be temporary position with a 1-year contract. 


Scope of the job

You will be part of the oncology therapeutic area and member of a team performing cellular assays supporting the progress of drug discovery programs.

Your role will be lab-based and your assignments will range from the experimental planning/design, to the execution of experiments in the lab to the analysis and scientific discussion of experimental results with oncology and/or other research project team(s).


Your role

  • Actively contribute to one or more drug discovery projects.
  • Independently plan, design and perform lab experiments following a detailed protocol or guidance, using multiple techniques and readout systems.
  • Analysis and interpretation of key decision-making data contributing to the progress of research programs.
  • Accurately report and document all experimental work in Lab Notebooks according to guidelines.
  • Clearly communicate and present results to project team(s) and stakeholders.
  • Follow EHS rules to ensure safe laboratory practice and environment.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or biomedical sciences.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a drug discovery setting.
  • Experience with in vitro cell biology techniques (luminescent/fluorescent readouts, immunostaining, PCR ...) and ability to culture human (cancer) cell lines.
  • Meticulous, precise and engaged with good communication skills (oral and written professional English).
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary work environment.
  • Motivated team player with can-do mentality.
